Cognitive Shuffle was developed by cognitive scientist Dr. Luc Beaudoin at Simon Fraser University. The technique works by rapidly streaming random, unrelated visual images through your mind — actively occupying your mental bandwidth so there is no room left for anxious rumination. When the imagery is sufficiently random and lacks narrative logic, the brain concludes there is nothing threatening enough to stay awake for, and sleep onset follows naturally.

Some devices (especially iOS Safari) require a user interaction before speech synthesis can activate. Make sure you've tapped the play button first. If it still doesn't work, simply turn off TTS and use it visually — read the word, close your eyes, and visualize. The technique works the same way, because the key mechanism is the mental imagery, not the audio.
